Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear

Restoring legitimacy to public discourse one outlandish and satirical gathering at a time.

So I attended the Rally to restore sanity/fear, and it was pretty fantastic.
There was a focus at certain points to make sure people understood that it wasn't trying to make fun of any belief or of people with faith in something, it was one to bring attention to the mindless sensationalism and misinformation that have become the center of our public political forums.
There was a lot of wonderful outlandishness alongside serious political discussi
on regarding the demonization of our fellow Americans, how the media and 24-hour news cycle is driving us apart and impeding our ability to solve our problems by massively polarizing us and brainwashing the public.
Holding a more "serious" rally with less hilarity would cause just more polarization, especially since those who follow the misinformation and propaganda would only treat it as mental floss (in one ear and out the other). Since we weren't trying to establish any sort of party platform, fight for or against any particular political idea, I believe this rally brought people together in a way that a more politicized rally could never have done.
